The Black Experience really taught me a lot about my own history in college. Like people think slavery was *just* whipping, r*pe, being separated from your family, but like it was even worse than that. Like absolutely horrific. Like I would’ve committed su*cide fr
Like I can’t imagine the trauma and the mental health of freed slaves. How do you get beat, r*ped, watch your friends get their skin peeled off and just get freed and then you get in a relationships do start a family with no mental health counseling?
Like how do you have a normal healthy argument after years of trauma? How do you have consensual sex after years of r*pe? How do you breastfeed your child when two of your children are out there lost? How do you talk about your feelings?
I feel especially bad for the kids who were born after the civil war, like imagine never experiencing that, but being so close to that pain, trauma, seeing scars on your mom and dad’s backs, them being irritable and brash
Imagine being autistic during slavery??? Chile 😭
Like imagine trying to meticulously pick cotton and doodle in the dirt with a stick and getting beat cause you’re autistic and only got 20 cotton balls in your basket.
