Why Jack's line is fantastic dialogue and adds another layer of depth to Jack taking the context into consideration (fan request/credit below)
"Jack is rly so cool and the translation really killed his cool line that has a deep meaning and lets us understand his character better"
"Some lines in Japanese simply cannot be translated into English without sounding awkward just like this is the case vice versa and this is one of those cases."
"The word "insect/虫" is often used as an object of contempt in human society. "虫ケラ" means "insignificant (like insects), useless, crappy guys". "虫ケラ" also refers to insects, or those who are the subject of contempt and disdain."
So, he is saying "Don't look down on me/ Don't understimate me" -because he was born a commoner and is much weaker than Dante ("subject of contempt and disdain")
"His dad taught him to never mess with those stronger than him- those at the top. But as a result of that, one day his father died following this way of living as he was injured from the back while running away from the bear when he was hunting in the mountains."
"He died without even trying to put up a fight because he thinks he’s an insect that can’t do anything against a stronger being" "Jack seems to have always hate his fathers way of living but his death, Jack didn’t like this way of thinking and even saw his father's death coming
because of his ideals of never going against those stronger than you. His back story is full of depth and symbolic panels that requires deeper thinking and further dissection in order to understand his character"
"That’s why when he went to the mountains and faced the bear head on

These words are the words he also wanted to say when he killed that giant bear, and this makes his character very profound than what it seems at first glance."
"Dante even called him "pathetic" hence the line "Yo, don’t miss with insects"" "it’s just that it doesn’t sound cool in English nor does it give the intended message through the original meaning of the word in Japanese"
