Today I learned Maslow’s hierarchy of needs was borrowed and misrepresented Siksika (Blackfeet Nation) teachings. And he didn’t give them proper credit.

“It’s time for us to let go of narratives like Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs and the American Dream, which leave out any mention of participating in community well-being and tell a story only of individual flourishing.” https://gatherfor.medium.com/maslow-got-it-wrong-ae45d6217a8c
I see a lot of white people feel compelled to defend Maslow or go into semantics of what it means to borrow/be inspired by/etc.

Yall missing the point of how colonialism influences who is cited and seen as contributors to major concepts.
Focus on Indigenous people instead of a white guy for a minute
