My ideal summer transfer window for @LFC, including incomings, outgoings and my overall view on what we need to do in the transfer market to get back on top [thread]:
⬅️ Wijnaldum, free transfer:
• Although I’d still be open to him signing a new deal due to his reliability and availability, I feel as though Gini’s time at the club has to end this summer, for all parties. He’s 30 now, and we need new, young blood, and more progressive MFs.
⬅️ Adrian, free transfer:
• Despite me holding a soft spot for the Spaniard due to his part in the Super Cup win, again, it’s best for all parties if Adrian departs this summer. He’s 34, and we need a goalkeeper more suited to our style of play, as well as being more reliable.
⬅️ Origi, ~£20M:
• Although he’s a cult hero, Origi should, unfortunately, have left a season or two ago. 3 g/a all season in 17 appearances this season just isn’t good enough, and although I’d be tempted to keep him around, his time to leave, and our time to move on, has come.
⬅️ Oxlade-Chamberlain, ~£20M:
• His time here has been severely negatively impacted by injuries, but we need to move past Ox, as he’s simply not good enough anymore, especially if we do, like expected, move to a 4-2-3-1 full time next season. Wish him all the best though.
⬅️ Matip, ~£20M:
• I absolutely adore Joel to bits, he’s one of my favourite players at the club, but he’s far too injury prone to stay at the club past this summer, especially with the likely signings of Konate and Kabak too. Such a shame if he does go though, we’d miss him.
⬅️ Phillips, ~£15M:
• He’s been an immense servant for us, and I’d love him to stay, but don’t see where he’s going to get a game with both Konate and Kabak seemingly coming in, alongside Virgil and Gomez coming back from injury. Better to let him progress his career elsewhere.
⬅️ Neco and Rhys Williams, loan deals:
• I wouldn’t let either go right now, as I do believe they’ll become really, really good players in 1-2 years, but right now, with our defensive recruitments, they could both do with loan moves, with the option to be recalled, too.
⬅️❌ Shaqiri:
• Although his departure this summer seems inevitable, I’d definitely keep Shaq around for another year at least. A serial winner, a set-piece specialist and a super-sub. What’s the point in selling him for a measly fee when he can have such a good impact?
⬅️❌ Elliott:
• Tempting to loan him out for another season, but I think 2021/22 needs to be Elliott’s breakout year for us. 18 g/a in 41 games this season, for a player who’s only just turned 18, is impeccable. He’s going to be generational, let’s make use of his talent.
⬅️❌ Minamino:
• Another player who’s time at our club looks to be beyond uncertain, I’d give Taki a proper chance next season, especially if we are playing UEL football, and need to rotate a lot. There’s a cracking player in there, he just needs a good run of games to show it.
⬅️❌ Keita:
• A scapegoat for many, Naby is one of the last players I’d be selling this summer. He’s immense when given a proper good run of games, he just needs, and I know what you’re thinking, one more season to prove his fitness and worth. He can still be special for us.
⬅️❌ James Milner and Ben Davies:
• The former’s experience is invaluable for the team, and the latter still hasn’t been given a proper chance at all, despite repetitive injuries to the defensive core. I’d keep both for one more year, for security, if nothing else.
➡️ Bissouma, ~£30M:
• This man is top of my midfielder transfer targets for the summer. Every single time I watch him, he runs the show. An impeccable MF with varied different roles and abilities whilst on the pitch, he’d be the perfect Gini replacement, and is still only 24.
➡️ Konate, ~£30M:
• This deal appears to be all but done now, and, obviously, it’ll be the perfect defensive singing if it goes through. An absolute colossus of a centre-half, his speed and ability on the ball make him the perfect long-term partner for Virgil at the back.
➡️ Kabak, ~£18M:
• If you don’t want to bring this man in permanently after his performances for us so far this season, then I really don’t understand where your head is at. Only 21, and has been a brilliant shining light in otherwise dark season for the club. Get it done.
➡️ Johnstone, ~£10M:
• Despite his Man Utd past, I think this man would be the perfect reserve ‘keeper for us, if Adrian moves on, and Klopp wants extra experience in the area as opposed to Kelleher and Pitaluga. Will be available at a bargain price if West Brom go down, too.
➡️ Daka, ~£18M:
• This goal-machine has been on all of our radars for a while now, and with 39 g/a in 36 games this season, who’s surprised at that? Absolutely rapid, and a brilliant finisher, which makes him exactly what we need, especially right now. This deal needs doing.
➡️ Malen, ~£25M:
• 34 g/a in 42 appearances so far this season says it all really. Can play as an out-an-out number nine, or off either flank. Malen being a clinical finisher, with a clear eye for a pass too, makes him a no-brainer signing this summer, in my eyes.
➡️⁉️ De Paul, ~£35M:
• I’d absolutely adore this signing, as I deem him to be one of the top players in world football who’d suit us the most, although it appears as though he could be on his way to either Roma or Inter Milan. If not, this deal is a no brainer, surely?
➡️⁉️ Neuhaus, ~£35M:
• A deal I can 110% see happening this summer, this guy appears as though he could be the perfect Wijnaldum replacement for us for next season onwards. However, with Bayern interested too, and Bissouma being PL proven, I’d probably still opt for the Malian.
➡️⁉️ Raphinha, ~£35M:
• A player that I deem as having the potential to be a world-beater, I’d absolutely love the club to bring in Raphinha, although I don’t see us bringing him in to play in a 4-2-3-1 formation, if that’s what we opt for. Could be wrong though, hope I am too.
➡️🎉 Sancho, ~£65M:
• One of my dream signings, I’d absolutely love to see this fella doing the business for us. A deal I thought was likely around 6 months ago, I, sadly, just don’t see this happening anymore, although it’d be the definition of a perfect signing if it did.
➡️🎉 Neto, ~£45M:
• If not for his long-term injury, I genuinely believe that this deal could’ve occurred this summer. Similar to Jota, yet 3 years younger, I think Neto would be an immense deal, although again, I don’t think this will happen any time soon for any club now.
➡️🎉 Mbappe, ~£150M:
• And to end this thread, my absolute dream signing. This will never happen, we’ve missed any chance we had by, seemingly, missing out on UCL football for the 2021/22 season, but it truly would shake up both us and world football if it did. Generational.
