/? i’m seeing a lot of tweets on the topic, so I’ll attempt to explain the province’s thinking re: no to backyard gatherings but yes to patios #mbpoli #covid19mb
/? When asked today, Roussin said part of the aim here is to make things more cut and dry. Five cars in your driveway? As of Wednesday that will likely be a sign health orders are being broken
/? Another reason mentioned in a previous lockdown is that if you have eight people in your backyard, someone will likely want to go inside - maybe to use the washroom, or to warm up, or to help you bring out snacks. The temptation is there to move indoors
/? Then there’s contact tracing and surface cleaning. More formalized on a resto patio than at your home.
/? there are a couple of establishments with patios i go to regularly. they are great about distancing, taking contact info and cleaning. one thing i do is sit at a different table than my friends, facing each other
/? i also meet up with friends for running or biking. outdoor activities in open public spaces this is still permitted (up to 10 people)
