Many many people desire to give up the rat race, toss in the towel at their job and work for themselves. For others, with the current economic crisis due to COVID-19, the days career security is long gone.
No matter your reason for wanting to start a home based business, the fact is, most are trying to find a niche that is the next big thing and make tons of money before the market is flooded with that same product or service and competition becomes so bad that no one makes money.
Most people who have looked into home based businesses find the same old ideas.. blogging/vlogging, day care, virtual assistance, selling crafts, doing paid surveys (Yawn) and my favorite, is the lawn care service.
Speaking as someone always on the lookout for a new venture, I have compiled a list of home based business ideas that cost less than $100 to get off the ground.
My list is going to be a little more varied, as as I have found the niches, will contain links for the information to check out and/or get started.
Please take the time to understand that some of these are affiliate links, which when clicked, help provide payment to yours truly, so that I can continue to provide information and reviews on services. So I would like to thank you for taking the time to check them out.
Thank You.
Computer Virus Cleaning Service
My first pick for my top 5 list of home business ideas is a computer virus cleaning service. This is accomplished with software you purchase, and then you provide the service.
The reason this makes the top of my list is that it is an evergreen business, and only basic computer skills are needed! The software does most of the work!
If you know how to set up an internet connection on your computer, and access the add/remove programs in the control panel, you can do it!  To illustrate the fact this can be a long time and lucrative home gig, check out this information!
Scans of 1.5 million computers by Earthlink found an average of 28 spyware programs on each computer.
Some were harmless, but one in three computers contained malicious software, including ones that hijack home pages to porn sites, monitor keystrokes to collect personal data or redial Internet connections!

There is an entire membership site available that helps you connect with companies who want's to buy your slogan! They also offer e-books, tutorials and tons of information helpful to get you off the ground.

Make and Sell your own Cleaning Solutions
This hits number three on my list. Mostly, as my ex-father in law did just exactly this and has build a multi-million dollar business, and did it in his basement to start.
Meaning, you need a space large enough to get started and know enough about chemistry to not create toxic gases or blow yourself sky high.
I personally like the idea of making my own cleaning solutions. I at least know what is in them that way.
If you are interested here, I have a whole set of books available at this link ( http://bit.ly/cleaningsolutionbiz) that will teach you everything you need to know, plus formulas for nearly every grime removing solution on the market, from laundry to floors, tubs and toilets.
In addition, there are some great bonuses when you purchase a book, such as free templates for business plans, marketing plans, etc. To be honest, I may make this one of my ventures one day in the near future.
Start your own Day Labor/Recruiting Business

If you look at the the number of people looking for employment, and then look at the number of businesses that have difficulty in finding and keeping employable people, there is a huge opportunity here.
If you have strong networking skills, this may be the perfect business for you. Generally, businesses pay a fee to the recruiter or labor company, or the company pays a certain amount per hour to the business, and the business then pays the person sent out.
There is usually a 90 day period in which the company must contract for the employee before they are free to directly hire. Aside from startup costs, and making sure to do payroll taxes, this is a very low cost business to start.
If you can start from a home office, you are golden.
Shredding Service aka Data Destruction

There are a large number of businesses that require this service. Really, you can start small and build up to a much larger business in a short amount of time. The key here is to do the research for state and federal requirements.
According to "the Balance" "When considering starting a new business, it is also a good idea to reach out to the relevant trade association--in this case, the National Association of Information Destruction ( http://www.naidonline.org/ ), and also to read relevant industry…
…publications such as Security Shredding & Storage News ( http://www.securityshreddingnews.com/ ). Trade associations can help connect you to small operator members in other parts of the country, while case studies featured in trade publications can prove useful."
The really cool thing about this particular business is that you are paid to pick up and shred paper. In turn, you can also market the shred to shipping businesses as packing material. So in short, you are paid to take your supply and paid to get rid of it.
This business has the opportunity to make money at both ends.
Live streaming/Podcasting
If you are already are into x-box or PlayStation gaming then chances are you have heard of Twitch. Twitch is my new darling, and thanks to Twitch, YouTube and Anchor, I myself am headed into the land of Podcasting.
The beautiful thing about this is, the platforms allow for easy viewership and a great way to build a following. If you are opinionated, have special talents, know how to make or do specific things, or just like attention, this is right up your alley.
With these particular platforms, the possibilities are endless.

As a matter of fact, I will be writing a series on the uses of each of these platforms and detail the processes of getting started, as well as the end results on my efforts.
While you are at it, check out the premier of my first YouTube video. It costs nothing, but again, will help with keeping the lights on and the information going.
