A German citizen's climate council met for the first time today, 160 randomly chosen people will meet 12 times over the next few months to hash out some policy recommendations for the next government. #Klimakrise
The #climatecommunications aspect of this is also really interesting. I haven't seen a hashtag or any social media buzz about this, but maybe I just haven't found it yet. Part of making this effective would be making sure a lot of people see it.
And since it's meant to be a science-based process, there was a climate physics 101 from @rahmstorf. I think these forums could be an important tool in climate policy. It's part of a process of creating new spaces for discussion, for listening, for tolerance and inclusivity ...
Those are sort of the basic common sense steps that any logical climate policy would start implementing right away; the kinds of things people at Biden's #ClimateSummit should have been talking about!
Anyway, today's sesh in Germany was just the first of many, but it will be interesting to follow this process. I'm hoping all the sessions will be live-streamed and that it will get some buzz in the media, and get people talking more about #ClimateAction .
