[ A riptide thread 🧵]
“How is he supposed to hold the prophecy if he can’t cast magic properly?!”

“I can cast and swim 20 times faster than him! Why can’t I have special treatment?”

Gillion swam up, he didn’t want to hear it anymore. He took pride in being the one of the prophecy.
But if he was really the one of the prophecy...why wasn’t it clicking already? Why was he constantly messing up?

But he believed in himself, cause Eden did

A shadow appeared overhead. It looked to be a boat. A uncommon occurrence in these waters. The surface...
Gillion has always wondered about the surface (one of the many reason some of his people shunned him) Humans were greedy, irrational and selfish. That’s what he’d been told. But where they really?

Eden had said that humans were misunderstood kind creatures..
Gillion swam a little ways behind the boat. From here he could see two figures but that’s all he could make out. Pretzel tugged on Gillion’s leg he assured her that it was fine and at he he would be carful.
“I told you that we didn’t know where we were going!” Chip put his feet up on a barrel. “Oh shut up Jay.” Jay turned to him and kicked the barrel sending Chip flying backwards.

And his eyes met Gillions.

“Who are y-“ The fish person eyes widened and ducked underwater
“Wait a minute! I won’t hurt you!” A head slowly peaked out from the water. “Who are you?” The fish person full body now out of the water, “I am Gillion Tidestrider!” Chip held back a laugh. He sure was /sure/ of himself. “Gillion huh?”
“Yes I am the pro-...well I was the...” His voice drifted off as he sunk back into the water. Chip smiled. “You’re weird. I like you Gillion.”

“Hey Jay! Come look.” Jay rolled her eyes and walked over to the side of the ship. “What is it no- Oh my god.” Chip smiled.
“This is Gillion. Gillion, this is Jay.” Jay looked at Chip then back at Gillion. “H-Hi?”

“Hello Jay”

Chip pushed Jay aside. “So Gill, can I call you that? Anyways you live underwater so you know the sea well right?” Gillion looked around. “Yes I do.” Chip jumped up. “Great!”
He leaned over the boat and smiled

“Do you wanna join my crew?”

Jay pulled Chip’s sleeve. “Hey wait a minute-“ Chip swatted her hand away. “Shush Jay! Do you want to Gillion?”

He did.
But he shouldn’t. He couldn’t, his people would brandish him as a traitor. But the hero of the prophecy protected humans and the undersea...

And these humans seemed nice.

“I have a duty....” Chip raised an eyebrow. “Well who says you cant do that and sail with us?”
Chip leaned over the boat tipping it this time. Now fully in Gillions face

“Abandon everything you know, sail with us and we’ll show you what it means to be alive!”

He leaned back and stood up. Chips arm outstretched to Gillion.
Gillion looked at the sea below him and then back at the boy in front of him. Abandoned everything he knew...? Could he do that? Both Jay and Chip had on smiling faces. He’d return to the undersea far stronger than he was right now so he could truly be the one of the prophecy
But for now..

He pulled his hand out of the water and reached towards Chips. Chips smile widened and he reached out and pulled Gillion onto the boat.

He’ll abandon everything he knew.
