A loan is not a piece of paper with ‘loan’ written on it & some T&Cs. It’s an agreement by which A advances credit to B & B agrees to repay.

A donation given in return for a nod & a wink concerning ..

.. unspecified future favours is not a loan, whatever the parties call it. Substance is more important than form.

Assuming money was given to Johnson as a bung, the associated paper work, if any, should be interesting. My guess is, these guys being amateurs, there’s nothing. ..

.. That’s a more serious problem than it might seem. If parliament, or more likely, the courts become interested then a loan agreement will have to be disclosed. It will need to be forged. That’s complicated because forgery is:

1 harder than you think, &
2 forgery
