For the first time in more than a decade, I didn't put in proposals to any fall conferences. The last 14 months have been crazy and I need to finish what I'm already committed to do. The thought of writing up a proposal now for November just didn't pass muster. (1/)
As a tenured faculty member, I have the luxury of being able to take a conference season off. But I still signed up to review for ASHE and will attend the virtual pre-conference. I'm still trying to do my best to help others. (2/)
Grad students/early career folks, I'm always happy to chat. These interactions are the things that I miss the most about in-person conferences, and I will be ready to do them again next spring. (3/)
Finally, it's the job of senior people in the field to act with care and compassion toward early-career people. If we're all burned out, we need to keep this in mind when evaluating others. (4/4)
