It was with utter rage today I learned of @HSE_HR plans to run a campaign for a national Senior OT panel. It beggars considering 92% on HSCPs feel the system does not work and 86% believe it is unfair. We cannot allow this to happen AGAIN!! # panelnotfit @forsa_union_ie
The system completely undermines specialist skills and is a major barrier to career progression. The process is not transparent and last time around candidates were quite simply 'deleted' after a period of time without any opportunity to re-interview.
The system is essentially a lottery and candidates are frequently excluded from positions in their own place of employment!! Appointments are based entirely on the principle of 'next on the list'.
Managers sometimes never meet or speak to their new employees until they are appointed and have no say in determining if a candidate is the best fit for a given role.
Every day we hear of children waiting years for therapies and lengthy waiting lists for disability services, mental health, etc, where OTs play a huge role. Major barrier - recruitment and retention processes!!!
@WeHSCPs make up the second largest professional group in the health service and yet nobody listens to us! We still have no voice at @roinnslainte. @forsa_union_ie never asks what we want so I don't know how they claim to act on our behalf!
We need urgent reform of recruitment for @WeHSCPs including a system that is efficient, and above all FAIR. Who is going to advocate for us??! We cannot let this happen again!! @forsa_union_ie
@DonnellyStephen @LeoVaradkar @MichealMartinTD
And one final point....if you for some reason can't make it to your interview on the designated day....tough! Had a baby yesterday? Lost a parent? On your honeymoon? Sorry...you've missed your chance for employment in HSE...you *might* get another chance in about 4 years!!
