@CrazyRxMan So this is what pharmacists have to deal with every week. This is a report from the physicians disciplinary college
/ In Jan 2018, a patient of Dr X attended a pharmacy with a prescription for hydrocodone syrup
/ That medication was on backorder. Accordingly, the pharmacist contacted Dr X by phone to discuss alternatives available in the pharmacy. Dr X insisted that the medication prescribed must contain hydrocodone.
/ The pharmacist advised Dr X that he must then supply a new written prescription for an alternative med containing hydrocodone in accordance with the law, as controlled substances cannot be provided verbally over the phone. Dr X expressed irritation.. (I bet he did...)
/ Then Dr X went to the pharmacy IN PERSON. In the presence of the the pharmacy tech, he called the pharmacist stupid multiple times, threatened that he would tell his patients not to come to that pharmacy, accused the pharmacist of withholding treatment to the patient, and.....
/ then GRABBED THE PHARMACIST BY THE NECK, pulled him close, and whispered in the pharmacist's ear "YOU ARE STUPID."
/ How many times in my 30+ career have I been called stupid or it was insinuated by docs and nurses, and quite a few patients? Despite running an large clinical service, having my own clinic, and writing chapters in textbooks?? All because we dare to say NO.
/ I'm tired of being treated disrespectfully during most of my career. And the new pharmacists I train, keep saying, "Do the docs and nurses think I'm stoooopid?" The only reason this pharmacist complained to the physicians college/board, is because it was physical.
