[THREAD] Nagelsmann move to FC Bayern and the expected transition from Flick’s system

The return of the prodigal son
How does Nagelsmann work and what’s his philosophy?

Leipzig under him deploys a series of variations of the 4-4-2 system alongside numerous back 3 alternatives but the principle remains the same regardless of formation:

- Vertical and high pressing football
- attack focused
In this clip I took from the Bundesliga channel we can see a similar approach to high line and pressure up the pitch making the opposition’s advance impossible and uncomfortable.

This resembles prime Flick’s Bayern in almost every aspect so our players will be ready for this
Nagelsmann is very familiar with possession based football as well, he’s like a sort of hybrid between Flick’s high pressing vertical approach and Guardiola’s high pressing possession based teams.

We can see that by the amount of passes Leipzig realized before and after him p90
Now you can see why Nagelsmann was our board’s main man for the job. His philosophy fits just right with Bayern’s everlasting ideals of eye pleasing and attack oriented displays of beautiful football.

Also his undeniable ties to this club as he explains here https://twitter.com/imiasanmia/status/907532073958875136
The main variation from last season will obviously be his classical back 3 options. Expect him to rotate between world class Hernandez and the already trusted Upamecano to drive the ball forward as he does in Leipzig now and connect both defense and midfield with ease.
This creates midfield superiority both in numbers AND in quality as you’ll know he will be under the assistance for Kimmich, Goretzka and even Müller.
With Nagelsmann move I fully expect Süle to remain at Bayern unless we decide to generate some income for further transfers. But his history with Nagelsmann and the ability to play in a back 3 makes him very useful. Also bare in mind a back 3 requires a lot of depth on the CB pos
What makes Nagelsmann special is that he can easily swift between formations to match his opponent’s strengths and force them to play wide or in the middle according to what’s more suitable for his team. Definitive one of the most versatile tactical minds and a gem no doubt.
