Okay, we really need to talk #anipoke community.
I’m calling out everybody who has slated Journeys for months and months without appreciating what we have been given so far. I’m gonna go over every concern I’ve read and go over why we should be patient.

First off, I wanna talk about Goh. I remember throughout XY and SM people were constantly complaining that there was not enough development for the certain characters, namely Clemont and Mallow just to name a few. People complained that Ash hogged the screentime
Now we have Journeys which focuses on dual protagonists. Goh is the new companion so of course he’s gonna need more episodes to flesh his character out more. We know everything about Ash, his development this series is literally based around battling!
It is frustrating that we’re not seeing most of his WCS battles but more on that in a bit. The reason he has minimal focus is because one episode for him develops his Pokemon more than Goh Pokemon in 10 episodes! He has such an impact that he doesn’t need constant screentime
We’ve spent the past 24 years getting to know Ash and he finally became champion in Alola, which is something we’ve all wanted since the beginning! I believe that if we are just PATIENT, the best of Ash will be shown in the WCS final battles.
Hating on Goh just because he gets a lot of episodes or catches something people want Ash to have is just childish. I feel like people just jump on the bandwagon with that one. They are trying something different with a protagonist, just give him a break!
The next thing I wanna go over is the screentime for the Pokemon. Remember when Riolu getting loads of focus compared to the rest of the squad? Suddenly he goes away and we’ve got screentime incoming for Farfetch’d, Dracovish and Dragonite. See where I’m going with this?
Well people are now complaining that Lucario is not appearing. It had plenty of development as Riolu and is clearly gonna be Ash’s ace. Since it evolved 18 episodes ago, it has battled Mewtwo, had a filler episode in Unova, battled Pokemon hunters and trained with Dragonite
Compare this to Lycanroc. He evolved in episode 37. His development arc on Ula’Ula wasn’t for another 37 episodes when he battled Nanu. This guy still had plenty of battles after that and even won Ash the league. 37 episodes, Great Pokemon. Lucario has plenty of time
In those 18 episodes we’ve had 3 Farfetch’d development episodes including his evolution and 2 WCS battles and Dracovish’s capture. Not to mention there’s episodes dedicated to Goh’s Sobble/Drizzile and Chloe’s development. If these didn’t happen people would complain!
And now we’ve got upcoming battles for Dracovish and Dragonite. Compared to past series, the pace of training is pretty good IMO! Poor Gengar is getting shafted at the moment but let’s be honest, he’s here mainly for fan service. Be patient though, his time will come!
Currently we’re going into a phase of the Pokemon anime that we’ve all wanted for years, Ash’s Pokemon coming back. I believe the reason Ash has had so little screentime is because they want to save the best battles for when he brings his old Pokemon to the WCS
There will still be room to develop his new mons whilst still using an old Pokemon or two here and there. I for one appreciate that this is happening and cannot wait to see where it goes. I get that things might not go as perfect as everyone wants that’s to be sometimes!
