This is my attempt to sum up some of the suggestions collected in our #rethinkingdiversity conversations today - please feel free to add to the thread:
Take literature (events) out of the centres and partner up with community-based initiatives. #rethinkingdiversity – great examples from @STWevents @writingwestmids @OWNITLDN @mkrtxt
And just have 'diverse' panels. "Normalise it instead of signposting it." Shantel Edwards
Make the “secret society of publishing” more accessible and transparent. #rethinkingdiversity
Use alternative ways and venues to find new authors and new staff. #rethinkingdiversity
Look at your own networks and make them more heterogenous. #rethinkingdiversity
Connect with the initiatives that have been working on issues of discrimination for a long time: in Germany for example @NDMedienmacher, @NDOrgs, @DiversityAC, @EOTO, @ISDBund, #Adefra – and pay the experts for their service #rethinkingdiversity
You can use services like the #Vielfaltfinder for free! It’s a database with BIPoC experts on all kinds of topics from quantum physics to literature: https://www.vielfaltfinder.de/  @BMFSFJ @NDOrgs @NDMedienmacher #demokratieleben #rethinkingdiversity
Examples for measures on a national level: collect data (Antidiskriminierungs- und Gleichstellungsdaten – see @Vielfalt_Ent) to reveal institutional discrimination and create measures to change those structures as a next step #rethinkingdiversity
finance research on structural discrimination in the cultural industries and include the expert activist groups in it #rethinkingdiversity
make it easier to found new publishing houses, agencies, bookshops and cultural initiatives (funding, tax cuts, etc.) #rethinkingdiversity
