Given that I& #39;ve had A**k*op blocked on here for years, the fact that I see it trending is bad news.

They are the TMZ of the industry.

Supporting them simply because you are willing to consume info about your faves from anywhere is harmful. There are many good blogs/sites.
I feel like I& #39;m on this soapbox more often than ever. There are many who are/were better and did just as much work at disbursing information.

Not financially backing the Others is the genuine difficulty in their growth opportunities. A**K*op is invested in because Messy sells.
Some mutuals started there and left. Some refuse to use anything more than a pen name to try to lighten the psychological load of knowing they contribute to a questionable media outlet.

Why do they do it? Writers need to eat. Journalism in this niche isn& #39;t what it once was.
Stop going to their site. Stop going to their website and their other media. It& #39;s a damn forum at this point with minimal to no moderation.

To be "relevant" they took it disturbingly far today.

You want to be aligned with that shit?

Eww.
There& #39;s tact. There& #39;s journalistic ethics and standards in every reputable outlet. The first step in that is to limit harm.

Anyone and any outlet that does not abide to this is not endorsing journalism, period.

PERIOD.
I started with Kpopstarz and valued what I learned there. And after that, I moved on to The One Shots, who is still the most legendary team I contributed to *besides that of my own* at MACG Magazine.

Integrity through and through. Sometimes to a fault, on my part as leader, but-
What we never got wrapped up in was scandal and trash. The people I got to build a publication with over the course of 4 years have mostly gone on to continue contributing elsewhere and/or maintain their own outlets. They bust ass still to deliver good writing.

It& #39;s not hard.
What is hard, is maintaining motivation when you see that two websites that countless fans and consumers have said is a/The Problem still get shine.

Why even write? Why be a Seoul Beats, a Kraze, a HiphopKR, etc. if it& #39;s a tooth-and-nail climb up to be seen and heard?

Simple.
More of Us -- those who do the work without the b.s. -- equates to greater strength in numbers versus Them.

Those who write are passionate about what they do, so much so that it& #39;s often done for little to no compensation. It& #39;s too much work to simply be a hobby.

Appreciate them
Seek out more of them (tag & #39;em in this thread if you have to) and less of the mess.

You want to see better? Then do better about your media consumption.

I& #39;m off it now.
