It’s the perfect imperfection of it.

In S2 it makes sense she’d be more coiffed in Paris. But back in Scotland, it’s like we never return to that original hair mood. Even on the war trail, when she wouldn’t be putting much effort into hair, its always perfectly contained. It’s easy to forget she even has curls

And then we have the wigs. Which aren’t always bad but don’t always look natural either bc we have this sharp hairline and rarely any flyaways or a hair out of place. She and Bree both sometimes have downright Homecoming curls. A bit unrealistic for the back country.

Don’t mistake me. Cait is a goddess. Claire is wonderful. Costuming/hair and makeup is outstanding. (Well...mostly...Jamie wig S4...lookin’ at you.)

But S1 has a lot of magic to it, and this is one of those magical pieces to me. She just looks so utterly *natural* in that first season, so utterly within the story that I often forgot she was primped and posed. It’s a shame it’s never replicated
