Let’s start with the iconic “See You Again”. One of Miley’s first hits released as herself. It samples the song “Sunglasses at Night” by Corey Hart.
Moving on, to her 4th studio album Bangerz, she sampled the song “Push It” by Salt-N-Pepa on her collab with Britney Spears “SMS (Bangerz)”.
Another track from the Bangerz album that contains a sample of another famous song it’s “My Darlin’”, her collab with Future. It samples the song “Stand By Me” by Ben E. King. https://open.spotify.com/track/3SdTKo2uVsxFblQjpScoHy?si=o6D848UmR9GoPwUtBSg6ag
Fun Fact: One of the first names that it was given to “My Darlin’” was “Why Don’t You Stand”. Something that they decided to change before the album release.
Still following on Bangerz, another track that also contains a sample it’s the lead single “We Can’t Stop”. It samples the tracks “La-Di-Da-Di” by Slick Rick and Doug E. Fresh and “We Run Things” by Flourgon.
We have one of her famous collaboration with http://Will.I.am , French Montana and Wiz Khalifa “Feelin’ Myself”. It samples the tracks “Fucking Problem” by A$AP Rocky, Drake, Kendrick Lamar as 2 Chainz and the track “I’m Good” by YG.
Most of the songs on the Dead Petz album are reworks of old songs by the Flaming Lips. Just like the track #1 “Dooo It!”, it was sampled/worked after the Yoko Ono X The Flaming Lips track “Do It !” and Radioland’s “Kraftwerk”. https://open.spotify.com/track/6VPhwWasJQt4BqeTQa6rpI?si=KoZlw0FsR7O-yyS4RM_ZMQ
“BB Talk” is the next on the line. It samples the track “Sing Sing” by Gaz. https://open.spotify.com/track/3XVArphWCaPIQlk9uYtvXn?si=v5Ez6-OTTXiMfGEqDNmTww
The track “Cyrus Skies” has the same instrumental of the song “7 Skies (Can’t Shut Off My Head)” by the Flaming Lips. This one I don’t know if we can call a sample or just say that she just got the instrumental to and put the lyrics on. https://open.spotify.com/track/7LXXzh8iRgmrM74vbRXsFr?si=37GEUTPcT7Cjt7YmDc8h_A
Which came first, the chicken or the egg? Miley it’s an expert on sampling songs and she even sample her own songs. On the Dead Petz album we have the tracks “Milky Milky Milk” that sounds exactly like “Slab Of Butter (Scorpion).
“Younger Now”, loved by few and hated on the same proportion, contains elements of no one other than Hannah Montana’s “This is the Life”.
Another one on the same album that contains a sample it’s the track “Inspired” that samples the song “Giving You Up” by Amy Belle.
Everyone knows Miley has her own take of this song and we like to believe she took the sample out of that haha.

It was in her blood!!! On 2018 when Miley and Mark Ronson decided to go together and create their own classic, they decided to sample no one other than Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” on their first collab “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart”.
“D.R.E.A.M” from the SHE IS COMING EP samples the track “C.R.E.A.M” by the Wu-Tang Clan. As an homage to that, Miley invited Ghostface Killah to be featured on her song. https://open.spotify.com/track/119c93MHjrDLJTApCVGpvx?si=1Drui3VmQhaLWfL6rg07zg
The next one it’s “Cattitude”. RuPaul’s verses are the same as her song “Sweet Pussycat of Mine” while the rest of the song samples Leikeli47’s “Atritude”.
It’s not a surprise for nobody that Plastic Heart’s lead single “Midnight Sky” samples Stevie Nicks’ “Edge of Seventeen”. They even dropped a mashup/remix of the songs combined.
I like to say that Miley made her own Future Nostalgia, one of the reasons is that she sampled the songs “I Was Made For Loving You” by Kiss, “Physical” by Olivia Newton-John and “Beat It” by Michael Jackson on her collab with Dua Lipa “Prisoner”.
The title track won’t get ways from this list, “Plastic Hearts” contains elements from “Sympathy for the Devil” by The Rolling Stones, “Are You Gonna be my Girl” by Jet and “Love is a Contact Sport” by Whitney Huston.
Fun Fact: Chad Smith, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer, played the Drums and Percussion on “Plastic Hearts”.
One of the Fan’s favorite, “Gimme What I Want” it’s described by Miley as “If Britney Spears and Nine Inch Nails made a song together”, then she decided to sample NIN’s song “Closer” on this one.
When Miley said she wanted to make her own version of Billy Idol’s “White Wedding” she wasn’t kidding. They sampled this song and some elements of “Rebel Yell” on “Night Crawling”.
On “Bad Karma”, Miley decided to sample Joan Jett songs “I Hate Myself for Loving You” and the Runaway’s “Cherry Bomb”.
And ending the Plastic Hearts ones we have “Never Be Me”. They used the songs “Eyes Without a Face” by Billy Idol and “For Whom The Bell Tolls” by The Bee Gees.
