You hear this often, and it& #39;s not entirely unfounded. But Biden is not as insulated from from Democratic culture warring via legislation as many suggest... https://twitter.com/jmartNYT/status/1386724555448897538">https://twitter.com/jmartNYT/...
First, the narrative:

Biden isn& #39;t participating in the culture wars that get airtime on Fox, but Democrats are culture warring in ways that don& #39;t register with the press.
For example: Legislation that is aimed at kneecapping the sharing economy to increase unionization rates is culture warring. https://www.commentarymagazine.com/noah-rothman/the-californication-of-america/">https://www.commentarymagazine.com/noah-roth...
Declaring everything from childcare, to caregiving at seniors& #39; facilities, to mandating paid leave is culture warring. Just survey the number of advocates for such reforms who describe it as fostering a particular "culture." It& #39;s cultural conflict by its advocates& #39; admission.
Sponsoring legislation aimed at getting the Federal Reserve into the "racial justice" business is culture-warring. https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2020/08/05/fed-racial-inequality-democrats/">https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/...
Advocating changes to Title IX to reimpose the unjust standards on campuses that prevailed after the 2011 Dear Colleague letter is culture warring. https://www.npr.org/2021/03/10/975645192/biden-begins-process-to-undo-trump-administrations-title-ix-rules">https://www.npr.org/2021/03/1...
Redefining classic definitions of gender to provide trans athletes opportunities that some female athletes oppose to the extent that there are active cases before the courts over it is culture warring. https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2021/02/25/transgender-women-unfair-playing-field-for-girls-column/6813749002/">https://www.usatoday.com/story/opi...
And so on. Media might not recognize this as culture warring--indeed, it tends only to become culture warring when Republicans notice all this and resolve to do something about it--but it& #39;s cultural nonetheless.
And it does the audience a disservice to pretend these are GOP fixations. If we awake after the 2022 midterms shocked at the results, we should do our best not to externalize our confusion. The fault lies with our own biases and our tendency to seek out that which reinforces them
