This is starting now! Really looking forward to the conversation. The panel is @BlueBirdTail @beveryquiet @FrancescaBeard @RheimaRob & @mrgeepoet.

I'm going to do my best to live-tweet here but also follow the @ApplesAndSnakes feed! #poetry #spokenword
. @ZenaEdwards introduces the term ‘ekphrasis’ which in the original Greek means ‘out speak.’ The term seems relegated to the page, not often used to describe performance practice. Zena asks guests to read a poem they were blocked on & to discuss the block.
. @FrancescaBeard shares that she feels all of her poems are part of this part/stage dilemma. She performs two poems, one of which she performs onstage frequently and the other of which she never performs. One directly invites audience engagement.
. @FrancescaBeard shares that early in her career, when trying to get published in magazines, she realised they weren’t interested in her work. She came from a literary background but her work was far more successful on the stage. The desire to connect drove her to spoken word.
