And while we& #39;re talking about trauma and burnout, let& #39;s have a Texas state capitol where women reporters and lobbyists and staffers don& #39;t have to go to work every day knowing they may be sexually assaulted by a colleague without anything even closely resembling accountability https://twitter.com/TumaTime/status/1386717430911840264">https://twitter.com/TumaTime/...
I was angry and exhausted by what I found when I reported on #txlege sexism in 2013. In 2017, I was in despair that there were so many untold stories. I worked hard to name the men and follow-up on those stories but, many are still working the same jobs today.
It strikes me that it may sound biased to say that I want better for the #txlege. But consider what you& #39;re asking when you ask women journalists not to advocate for a safe workplace. You think we don& #39;t have an emotional stake in that?
Women shouldn& #39;t have to fear they& #39;ll be groped or forcibly kissed or drugged at their workplace. That workplace is the state legislature. That& #39;s the people& #39;s building. It shouldn& #39;t be used to carry out the twisted sexual whims of the men in power who work there.
