1/ As, many of you know, I have a rare form of Polycythemia Vera, a form of cancer that affects how my Blood clots.

I had the Oxford AstraZeneca COVID-19 Vaccine on Saturday morning.

I just wanted to let people know my experience following the vaccine for reassurance.
2/ On Sat evening, about 10-12 hours after vaccination, I got very achy with a headache, chills, sweats & shakes. Paracetamol made a huge difference.

On Sun I felt very tired & the body aching remained. Like I had a bad flu. This is a GOOD sign my body is responding.
3/ Today, I still feel tired, have had a headache & aches, but all are lessening.

My arm is sore at the vaccine site, but not bad.

All in all, yes it has been uncomfortable, but nothing paracetamol & rest can't deal with.
4/ The chance of a blood clot with low platelets, (CVST or SVT), following the AstraZeneca vaccine is approximately 1 in 4 million.

The usual incidence of CVST clots in general population is 2-4 per million.

The incidence of blood clots for women on birth control is 2-5 per 10k
5/ Why I'm sharing this.

I have a gene called JAK2 with the Exon 12 mutation.

This puts me at high risk of CVST clots anyway. However, the risk of COVID-19 killing me is much higher than getting a vaccine induced clot

AND, COVID itself can cause major clotting events in anyone
6/ 3 days after getting my 1st Dose of the Oxford AstraZeneca Vaccine.

I'M FEELING GOOD 😎
