1• Dr Harsh Vardhan(MS ENT)as the state minister of health in1994 oversaw the successful implementation of the Pulse Polio programme pilot project, which involved mass immunisation of 1 Million children up to 3 years of age in Delhi. In 1995 this programme was launched nationwide
This lead to 88 million children being immunised.

The fruit of this programme was obtained on 28th March 2014, when India was declared polio-free by WHO.( There had been no reported cases for 3 years preceding this date)
2• In 1997,He brought the Delhi prohibition of Smoking& Non-smokers Health Protection act, which was passed in the Assembly. This was the 1st of the antitobacco laws, implemented by any state govt. So Smoking products cudn't be sold/stored within 100m of any educational institute
The act prohibited smoking in Public places, places of work, hospitals, restaurants, educational institutes,&public service vehicles. It also prohibited the sale of tobacco&beedis,to anyone below The age of 18 years.(We've all learnt in PSM abt primordial prevention being the best)
3• As Cabinet Minister under the Modi Govt, he also declared reservations for academic calendar 2020-2021 in MBBS and BDS colleges for children of Covid-19 warriors, who had worked tirelessly and unfortunately lost their lives during the pandemic in India.
4• Yes, he was involved in launching coronil during the pandemic, and was highly criticised by IMA because of it. But even the DMA had SLAMMED IMA for the criticism of our hon. Health Minister.

Young doctors(younger than me)on social media think they're above DMA,
Young docs, whose age is probably less than Sir's political career, think that insulting him is cool(d/t herd mentality?).
It's sure a fast way to get popular on social media.

They dismiss BAMS docs, despite the fact that they too are working in the pandemic,&are covid warriors.
5• While I'm not one for mixopathy ever,I definitely think it's loathsome to criticize Indigenous methods of Ayurveda(abt which we bother to know very little).Ayurveda isn't just abt prescribing herbal medicines,it's abt a holistic, individual approach to lifestyle and nutrition
Ayurveda encompasses the practice of Yoga, pranayam, meditation, acupressure & acupuncture, along with guidelines for sattvik vegetarian diet, and a disciplined lifestyle.
Even the popular nutritionist @RujutaDiwekar has given nutritional tips that based on Ayurvedic principles.
The practices of Ayurveda are gaining popularity in the Western countries and being presented with a western giftwrapping to the world, while in India it's become popular to be indoctrinated sheeps and dismiss the whole of Ayurveda, cause we all wanna be popular right?
6• Again, I'm not endorsing mixopathy or coronil. All I say to the young docs, who will be the HoDs and professors in the future, don't slam something you know little of as purely faith based, because of the malpractice of herbal meds.
It's not like our modern medicine is completely safe and harmless all the time. Learn to inculcate humility in your practice instead of jumping on the "I'm cool and logical bruh, I'll insult, dismiss anything that's not proven in Western practices bruh." You're not cool.
You're a victim of indoctrination with The lines of our colonial oppressors, who didn't just rob us financially and destroy our nation for so many years, but also robbed us intellectually.
