How is this a race issue? I totally feel for this kid. Working in hospitality for most of my life, there were many times I've wanted to breakdown. Guests who do shit like this are the reason I quit. But somehow it's always the front desk workers fault. Thread. 1/8 https://twitter.com/tariqnasheed/status/1386455776936427522
There are too many variables as to why things just weren't working right for my man here, that the guest just doesn't understand. Maybe a 3rd party like Expedia or Booking didn't push the reservation through? That doesn't make it his fault or the hotel's fault. 2/8
As soon as the guest sees my guy becoming frustrated, he pulls out his phone and starts recording him. Putting more pressure onto him. How does that help in an already high tension situation? Where the guest is already angry, and most likely my guy here is the only one- 3/8
-in the entire hotel who can help him. Newsflash, most hotels only have 1 person in the entire hotel after 3PM. And that's the front desk worker. Why would you want to make the only person who can help you this upset? This should have never gone viral, and the people who- 4/8
-pushed this are just as bad as the man recording this video. I really hope my man can find some peace after all this and that he has people he can look to or can look after him. My mental health would be at its worse after something happened like this. I've seen and been- 5/8
-through a lot of shit in the hospitality business. I've had guest yell at me, call me names, even threaten to fight me. I've actually had a person jump on my back and try to strangle me. I've had a gun pointed at me. I've seen people OD in my hotel. I've seen dead bodies. 6/8
People should really consider who they're dealing with behind the desk. All we want to do is help you. But you have to help us help you instead of making an already difficult situation even more difficult. I could go on all day, but I hope this is enough to get people to- 7/8
-understand. If anyone has any questions about hotels, whether as a guest or someone who is looking to get into hospitality, you can reply to this thread, and I'll try my best to answer them if anyone cares to ask. Again, I hope this kid is okay and I'm sending him my energy. 8/8
