Everything that's new in Apex Legends' Legacy Update! [THREAD]

First:
- Peacekeeper returns to ground loot
- Triple Take moves to Care Package

You read that right. The Peacekeeper is back to floor loot starting next season.
“It's an awesome gun, it's a nostalgic gun, people wanna use it, and we wanna let people use it," game designer Eric Canavese told @DotEsports in a virtual press briefing.
Legacy is bringing two new hop-ups for the Bocek, 30-30, & Sentinel.

- Shatter Caps: adds a second firing mode with spread, turns it into a mini-shotgun (Bocek, 30-30)

- Deadeye's Tempo: firing exactly when an arrow is fully nocked increases fire rate (Bocek, Sentinel)
We're FINALLY getting ground emotes in Apex Legends. Can't share footage just yet, but the animation on them is absolutely phenomenal.

Every legend also gets one emote for free. Use them to make friends—or, y'know, grief people.
Here's some more good news.

World's Edge is returning as the first map on the ranked split in Legacy, according to Respawn. This should give everyone some time to adjust to the Olympus map update.

I know it's not surprising, but you have official confirmation now!
World's Edge and Olympus in the rotation, by the way-- KC is gone for the time being.
Two balancing adjustments I can share:
- Low Profile is out of the picture for good;
- Octane stim will cost more health.

“One in four picks in the BR right now is an Octane,” according to @danielzklein, so Respawn is “carefully touching him a little bit”.
“We're making so that when you constantly stim, you actually pay a meaningful price,” Klein said. “The hope is that with the new health cost for stims, you will either pay attention to your health or you will run across random low-health Octanes in the game.”
I'm not sure what's in stock for legends such as Lifeline, Wattson, and Wraith with the removal of LP, nor do I know of any other legend balancing adjustments--we'll have to wait for the patch notes for those.
How could I forget Valk?

First off, she isn't an assault--she's a Recon. Which, admittedly, is very handy and pairs off REALLY well with her kit.

You ever play Bloodhound and get stuck trying to scan a beacon? Well, no more.
Sorry to all of you who were hoping for Pharah from Overwatch, but Valk isn't that speedy. Her jetpack feels predictable and waaaay more vertical than horizontal, and there's a lot of counterplay involved--because after all, there's no cover in the air.
I don't think I touched on the Bocek, but good lord is it fun to use. It's honestly one of the best feeling weapons in the game, IMO. (still doesn't beat my trusty PK, but it does get close).
It feels particularly good with both hop-ups. Shatter Caps turns it into a shotgun bow (seriously, how I live without that?).

Deadeye's Tempo creates a delightful little cadence to it and makes it a complete BEAST.
Forgot to mention--the Bocek is the first weapon in Apex to have two hop-up slots. This means that, unlike the Wingman, you can actually equip both slots at once.
Presumably, you'd have to switch between one or the other, though.
I think that covers the facts. BUT I was lucky enough to playtest Legacy and I'm allowed to share some impressions with you all.

Here we go.
Arenas is extremely fun. Evolving beyond BR is an amazing move—I'm not fond of BRs at all and Arenas hits the nail on the head.

Ditching RNG and third-partying works like a charm. Custom maps play really well, but fighting in POIs like Artillery is better than ever.
I've gone over Valk's kit, but about what she's like outside of the Games...well, I think you're gonna like her.

@erikaishii did a killer job with her voice lines (we all knew they'd nail it) and the writing team came up with some really good quips.
The Olympus map update changes a very specific part of the map: the crossroads between Orbital, Bonsai, & Solar. That place really needed an overhaul and the Icarus delivers it.

A giant infested ship really kills the vibe, though.
I liked how it affects gameplay in OL and playing inside the Icarus feels good, but honestly? Not the biggest fan of the vibe.

Guess next time we'll have to ask for no orange skybox OR any infested ships carrying life-threatening flora.
Each emote is an absolute masterpiece. The animation work that went into them is just mind-blowing and the legends' personalities really shine.

If you're wondering why we didn't get emotes sooner, it might be b/c the animation team was polishing them to the point of perfection.
The Legacy quest is gonna be a doozy. Lots of legends involved and lots of trouble brewing. Bigger and far more compelling than the rest of the comics so far. Gasping at the end of every chapter.

Some of you from the community are gonna find a familiar name somewhere 👀
Okay, I think I've officially run out of things to tweet. Feel free to ask me anything and I'll do my best to answer.

Hope you enjoy the read, but don't go just yet: I'll continue to keep you updated as much as I can and I'll share some footage the second I'm allowed to do so.
