Top 3 complaints I see about bike riders:

-They are naughty—riding through stop signs etc.
-They obstruct drivers for a number of seconds.
-They want bike lanes, which use space that could hold more cars.

All contortions folks make because driving is a soul-crushing paradigm.
In just the US, there are 286 million registered motor vehicles that drove more than 3 TRILLION miles last year. There is too much traffic because there is too much traffic. The reason folks hate life behind the wheel is that there are too many people behind the wheel.
Paradigms are shifting, but we're still in a time where millions of people feel they have no alternative to driving cars but they mostly hate it. Spending an hour in an expensive vehicle to go 18 miles sucks. Bike riders are an easy target on which to offload that frustration.
