Game report.
Very tight game, Zürich was ahead most of the game in terms of Expected Goals (xG) but Geneva had a strong reaction after the 1-1 goal.
ZSC pushed in the end without success. Still, statistically Zürich had a 61% probability to win this one.

Even if a couple of big chances would have turned this game around given how low event it was, Zürich was the better team for a long time, before Geneva closed in in the 3rd.

Low event game
0 rebound shot in 60mn (incredible)
13-6 on scoring chances for ZSC
But 3-3 on high-danger chances.
Geneva only created 1 shot from high-danger passes, which is usually their strength, and none from Royal Road (breaking our graph here...)

After an easy 1st period for ZSC in terms of Zone Exits, Geneva forechecked better.
Zürich still ends with 60% controlled exit, in line with their 59% this season.
It was harder for Geneva: 49% controlled Exits (59% too this season)

Zone Entries were tough for both teams, defenses closed their blue line very well.
42% controlled entries for ZSC (48% this season)
49% for Geneva compared to 47% this season
Not many high danger passes, with just 25% completion for Geneva

Omark and Fehr assumed their role, in a relatively low event game. Omark led Geneva with 4 shot attempts and 0.29xG. Le Coultre had 5 attempts.
Tömmernes scored 2 goals on 0.07xG.....
For ZSC Bodenmann created 0.41xG
Roe had 5 shot assists, Diem 3

(For all shots, the xG value is shared among players involved ahead of the shot according to the part they played)
For ZSC, Roe was involved a lot (more on him later)
This is the time to recognized Tim Berni has become a man @AlisonL
Omark, Rod were solid

Manzato was really solid , allowing 1 less goal than expected.
Another sign of that low danger game, both goalies posted a Shot control% (putting the puck out of danger) above 80%. When the league average is at 66%.
Both Geneva goals came with traffic

We only miss possession metrics for now (coming later)
I will do another thread just on those.
