The “there’s no excuse to not get the vaccine” discourse by middle class people who have access to time off and sick days is really bothering me.
Part of the math people have to consider when they’re considering the vaccine is 1) can I find an appointment in a time and place convenient to the rest of my schedule and 2) can I suspend my life for the 12 hours to 4 days the vaccine might mess me up?
Some of y’all are going all-in on calling people stupid, idiots, fools, ignorant, selfish, dumb, and a whole heap of other things I can’t remember.

When we live in a country where paid time off - of literally any kind - is not federally mandated.
The lack of praxis here is astounding. And I’m no great social theorist or public health expert or labor expert, but even I know that if people can’t afford to take time off, then they can’t afford to take the vaccine.
The fact that it’s primarily a 2-part vaccine *absolutely* makes things more complicated. As does the cancellations and rescheduling some folks have had to deal with (my husband’s first appointment was canceled two hours before he was supposed to get the vaccine).
The fact that I had side effects for half a week and that my husband had to rearrange his schedule for 2 days (the canceled day + the rescheduled day) didn’t really affect us. But we have jobs where those sorts of disruptions are personally inconvenient...not fireable offenses.
