Regarding DSA’s National Grievance Officer: After 2+ years of incompetent procedural mayhem, a Pittsburgh expulsion trial has ended. The case involved the NHGO reversing an SC’s expulsion of someone who violated a No Contact Agreement, seeking to punish those who expelled him. https://twitter.com/clozilly/status/1385715619358773251
To be clear, our SC protected membership from someone who lashed out and harassed others. They were transparent with chapter membership and the general body voted in support of their decision. We had witnessed enough. But the NHGO did not care, and facilitated reversal anyway.
The former NPC reversed the decision based on Paula the NHGO’s recommendation. The follow-up trial dragged on so long it carried over to the current NPC. The final decision by the NHGO/current NPC was to suspend the former SC from leadership for 3 yrs, as opposed to expulsion.
While I’m happy the former SC only has a leadership vacation for 3 years, I am here to criticize the atrocious process that re-traumatized my comrades, a process that is an embarrassment to the organization. The former SC protected membership and deserve praise for what they did.
How am I involved? I was “named” by the harasser, and thus the NHGO ordered me to sign a NCA with him. Wrapped in this document was a Non-Disclosure Agreement, as the expelled member wanted to shut me up more than anything. I refused to sign it.
I had good reason to believe this NCA would not be respected by the other party. I explained my fears to Paula, and she gaslit me. She dismissed all my concerns. She was sarcastic, snarky, and unprofessional. She was not on my side, was upset at my questions, and made that clear.
All that work and I screwed up the thread 😂 continue here https://twitter.com/clozilly/status/1386667006439694339
