🔴In the simmering heat, Muhammad struggled to find a place to bury his mother who died on Friday at home.

“There is no dignity in death here. Instead of mourning our dead, we are fighting with the fear that they should get a space for burial”
🔴Mr Yusuf has installed cooling appliances at home to keep his mother’s body from decomposing before she can be laid to rest.

“There is desperation among people all around. Covid has overwhelmed Delhi, not just its hospitals and graveyards,” he said
📍In western India said 22 patients died in the Zakir Hussain Hospital hospital in Nashik when their oxygen supply was interrupted by a leakage in a supply tank
🗣 Daughter of a Covid patient, Nashik

The daughter, whose name was not given, said her mother had been in hospital for 5 days and had "recovered" from the worst of her illness when she died due to oxygen deprivation.

"There was no oxygen, she died in agony"
🔴 "She had trouble breathing, she died. Everyone there (in the ward) died," she said.

🌎Major hospitals in India have launched urgent appeals for oxygen, that have now been met with foreign aid

🔴The supervisor of the capital's largest burial ground said:

"I have never seen such a rush of bodies. We are now turning down many requests for burial because we can’t accommodate everyone”
🗣️A nearby local said:

“It looked nothing less than a war zone with dead bodies lying around all over and men in PPE kits appearing as soldiers in uniform guarding their martyrs and getting ready for another round of a deadly battle”
🇮🇳 There is now hope that foreign aid will ease the burden of oxygen shortages.

The UK announced on Sunday it will send life-saving medical equipment to India.

It will ship more than 600 pieces of equipment to New Delhi to support its fight against the virus
Prime Minister Boris Johnson pledged the UK would do "all it can" to help.

In total, 9 airline container-loads of supplies were due to leave the UK on Sunday, including:

🔴495 oxygen concentrators
🔴120 non-invasive ventilators
🔴20 manual ventilators
