I've never seen a person as desperate for white validation as Barkha Dutt. I don't believe she did the Kargil or 26/11 info leaks or the crematorium-hopping because it gave her some perverse joy. I believe she did it to receive a pat on the back from the Western media

I don't know if she's been raised with the idea that the white person's opinion is the only one that matters, or if it's something she's learnt by watching her Western counterparts collect accolades for reporting on poverty porn and other general misery.

Either way, when called out by people revulsed by the mental image of Ms. Dutt standing outside a crematorium, craning her neck trying to get a glimpse of the burning bodies, instead of admitting an error in judgement and backing off...

...she doubles down and accuses them of trying to "sanitize the scale of the horror" Again, this insensitive behaviour is not displayed out a lack of empathy. It stems from the conviction that this is what those in the West, who will be judging her work, would expect of her.

Ultimately, one can only feel sorry for someone who needs to constantly look for new lows of reportage to stoop to, just so that they can sleep better knowing they've earned the approval of their white masters.
End.
End.
