Often the “recommended” processes and approaches that you see touted by others are a response to a context and bunch of problems that you may not have.
e.g. Spotify’s autonomous squad model worked well for them when they were small/medium sized, but didn’t scale well. Everyone copied them for years despite this.
e.g. the “any user research is better than none” belief tends to work well at the beginning of your journey, but when you’ve got lots of research budget, the problem of “Too much research” or "pointless research” rears its head.
e.g. the “never micromanage” rule makes sense when you have a healthy and capable team without any obstructing externalities (if it ain’t broke…) but sometimes a brief stint of micromanaging from a senior leader can help get things on the right path again.
There's no such thing as a one-size-fits-all strategy, process or approach. Everything you do is a response to your current situation. If you push the pendulum too hard, you’ll overshoot the point of equilibrium and you’ll then have new problems.
