If an accusation has been made, it deserves due process without being automatically buried as a smear.

Everyone deserves a fair hearing & some comments I& #39;ve seen regarding the NIP allegations are very uncomfortable.
These include accusing those simply asking about it of “spreading a smear.”

The Corbyn/antisemitism campaign has put everybody on alert, which is understandable, and bad faith actors amplify this, which is true.
But that was a state-sponsored campaign from the highest level. This is not the same thing, and as a separate matter, it should not influence judgment on different claims from another direction.
Automatically burying a claim because it hurts the movement is SWP like behavior. There is a long history in politics of suppressing victims& #39; voices by shouting “smear.”
Instead of doubling down and insisting it can& #39;t be true out of hand, we should be reaching out to those who are making the claims and getting to the bottom of exactly what has gone on here.
If there& #39;s nothing to it, great, move on. We knew there would be smears, and we knew they& #39;d come from many directions.

If there is something to it, then we need to understand what went wrong and how this can be resolved.
A people’s party must be transparent, and if we’re going to shut down all questions out of hand, then it& #39;s going to go in a terrible direction.
Everybody wants this to work, and with transparency, fairness, tolerance, and listening, it will change things in this this country for years to come.

I will wait for developments.
