hi just a reminder that things like misreading friendships and not identifying tone correctly is an autistic trait, not ADHD. you can experience the same things but it’s not due to your ADHD. by saying something like ‘neurodivergent people xyz’ when it’s strictly an autistic +
+ trait or strictly an ADHD trait etc, you’re teaching people that it’s due to other neurodivergencies too. ultimately it’s stigmatising autism even more and also spreading misinformation about ADHD and therefore people aren’t seeking autism diagnoses. +
+ again, i don’t tweet these things to say that ADHD isn’t hard, i just know how hard it is to be an undiagnosed autistic person.
okay now read this lol. the reasons behind ADHD traits and autism traits aren’t the same at all. that’s where we’re going wrong. they present kinda similar but they’re VERY different, almost opposite conditions https://twitter.com/autietoons/status/1386632560768344065
yikes this is all pretty controversial and now i feel anxious and i don’t think i got my point across right :(
