You hung out in the dayroom with your platoon mates 24/7. That ain't the case with them- they have options. And no, it isn't a bad thing. Understand though, you have to *earn* their desire for face-to-face human interactions. Disparaging them, ranting about social media, 2/
and telling stories about the days before cell phones just makes you sound like a silly, irrelevant old dinosaur who fails to even attempt to empathize with newer generations. Build trust with them the good old fashioned way, but don't dismiss how they live and communicate. 3/
Yes it is important that they bond with their team- but just know you have to work for it more than a couple of decades ago when there were no other options. /end
