The problem with millennials is that most of their parents' generation succeeded in wealth creation & material security, leaving little to no room for insights into real life challenges & hardships.
Adversities are, largely, a second hand experience. Outrage a borrowed feeling.
Since every human, by nature or design, seeks to own causes or stands worthy of self-righteous satisfaction, this generation seeks it vicariously through others' lived/imagined experiences.
So they go in search. Like prey for food. And where there's a prey, there's a predator.
This predatory machinery, primed for this moment, kicks into action. Constant feeds of lies, manipulative messaging to create falsified, but cohesive narratives that build imagery of a highly unjust society devoid of good people- except them- thereby creating a narcissistic +
saviour complex in grps of individuals bound by common grounds of misplaced anger/rejection.
Compounded by families no longer held together by a thread of elderly guidance & firm hand, they fly free of critical thinking or self-regulation. Know-it-alls who've seen-nothing-at-all.
Earlier such rebels without any cause were confined to their niches/domain of interaction.
Social media was a game changer.
It was the medium for all the signal calls within this species. Toss in glamour, fame, instant gratification, money, hedonist avenues- perfect entrapment.
There's a lot of smarts to this generation- with avenues & attributes unavailable/denied to previous gens.
But the whiling away of substance, because of obsession for the frivolous, often makes it look like opportunities wasted on the undeserving, youth wasted on the young.
