back in 2016 when i started speaking out against the duterte admin because of the killings, i drew the ire of many.
they called me privileged, and deluded, called me an “adik” and not in touch with whats “on the streets” because i live in a gated community etc.

they swore they felt the “change” promised to them, because they felt “safer” in the streets esp at night (probably thinking that duterte drives a taxi around patrolling the night, like the tales from davao) i always knew that the toxic macho leader type was a sham
and a populist ploy, judging from history. i also hated the drama around the whole election season.
i couldnt believe that many fell for it.
now i sometimes wonder how they’re all doing, because if they havent blocked me yet, all they post is “good vibes only” still refusing

to acknowledge what they enabled, and proud of it, until we find ourselves here. hard not to rub it in their faces that privilege is not what makes you blind, fanaticism does.
what you tolerate is what will continue.
