While most are focused on Farmaajo's illegal coup of power, what the current chaos demonstrates is the lack of independent institutions in Somalia and the desperate need for clear separation of powers between the Presidency-Cabinet, Parliament and Courts #Somalia
If a clear separation of powers existed, Farmaajo would not have been able to buy the lower house + courts would have invalidated his illegal coup. Current chaos shows structural fractures in the system that go beyond any one leader. Need long-term solutions, not band-aid fixes.
True Shariica governance would have resolved this as there would be system wide respect for the Courts being responsible first and foremost to Allah SWT and the community. Structural factors promoting independence (e.g. fixed salaries for Judicial officers) would have existed.
Expecting the military to be the guardians of democracy rather than independent instititions is a path to either future military dictatorship (as seen in other countries) or chaos (military splintering). Somalia has seen where leadership-less young men with guns leads to #Somalia
