thread of me listening to mitski's entire discography for the first time i guess https://twitter.com/concretehaiis/status/1386570275848736768
Liquid Smooth: the vibes are like. falling apart but and horrible thing is happening/happened but im reclaiming it for myself. i like.
Eric: i like the instrumentals! it creates such a nice soundspace with her voice its kind of ethereal and spooky. this is about an ex isnt it. very sad but so pretty.
THE CHOIR EFFECT THE END AND THEN THE FADE TO JUST ONE
THE CHOIR EFFECT THE END AND THEN THE FADE TO JUST ONE
Brand New City: the tonal change from Eric to this one is a nice juxtaposition. feels very girlboss and punk.
"BUT IF I GAVE UP ON BEING PRETTY I WOULDNT KNOW HOW TO BE ALIVE" AAAA POETRY

Real Men: heehoo bouncy chords and commentary on toxic masculinity and the male gaze. she speaks so much truth
Wife: domestic bliss type beat but theres something wrong under the surface. "i will try for if i am not yours what am i" mmmmmmmmm
Abbey: A CAPELLA SONG?? WOAH!
introspection theme is so spooky with a choir of one voice.

Bag of Bones: im noticing she really plays with chords and harmony a lot. she writes really provocative lyrics that work nicely with her voice bc like if im not focusing on them its soothing but if i listen closely im like woah
and she really pulls off the gradual layering effect well in both short form and long form
Door: WOAH THAT TRANSITION BETWEEN THE SONGS WAS SO SMOOTH!!! i think its interesting to connect Bag of Bones and Door since one is abt an unhealthy relationship and this one is abt herself. the way the chords get more unstable reflect the lyrics so well
Pearl Diver: i like the comparison of someone internally chasing something like beauty with the literal action of pearl diving. both are not Good things bc they are dangerous and are bad for both parties if that makes sense. endingn the album saying "you are dead" is so powerful
last song in da album i gotta take a break off twitter, finish more editing and then come back and do the rest of this thread. will listen to just this album on repeat to think abt it more before listening to the other ones
