Just got devastating news my daughter's flight back home has been cancelled. She, hubby & 2 boys were due to fly home on May 3rd from Pakistan. They have been registered with DFAT for 8 months&they have done little to help them. I will post on this thread parts of her email.

1. For the past week, I’ve been checking our flight status everyday (sometimes twice a day). We just found out from our travel agent now (3 hours ago)that our flight has cancelled by the airline. I’m absolutely devastated! We have moved out of our house. Tenants have moved in.

2. We are living out of our suitcases. The kids finished school almost a month ago. Everything has just turned to shit in a few hours. We have been super vigilant - trying NOT to get Corona up until now. Avoided markets, wearing masks full time, washing hands like we have COD.

3. And I’m certain that Australia is soon going to add Pakistan to their “no fly in” list. Then we will have buckley’s chance of getting back any time soon. First thing tomorrow, we will be calling Qatar Airways and pleading our case.

4. But our travel agent said that it’s not the airlines, it’s the Australian govt who control who flys&doesn’t fly. I wonder if it’s worth calling the Australian (useless) Consulate? We’ve been registered with DFAT for 8 months or more&they’ve done nothing 4 Aussies in Pakistan.

5. Not one repatriation flight from Pakistan! But many repatriation flights have been arranged from India and UK! Well, this has happened to many families. We are not the only ones. We’ll try to get diverted to another city even.

I want @ScottMorrisonMP to read this thread and ask him what if this was one of his daughters! Plenty of flights for Chinese students, flights from India and the UK. Flights for Hollywood actors, flights for elite Tennis players. My daughter is a First Fleet descendant Scott!
