We received anonymous feedback on the @BCSmashSafety CoC which criticized our current panel for "choosing to be inactive on cases relating to their friends in the community." So I want to clarify a few things - (1/8)
1. I have no idea which specific case(s) are being referred to here. If you feel that we have been negligent with respect to any case, please inform us so that we can remedy this! (2/8)
2. We felt that it would be improper to start formally investigating cases before a CoC was in place - we wanted to establish the rules we were working with first to maintain consistency and fairness. (3/8)
3. We simply have a large backlog of cases. A lot of people have been hurt in various ways over the years, and we& #39;re making sure to keep track of everything that reaches us. We are also a group of unpaid volunteers with limited time to put into this. (4/8)
4. If it seems we& #39;re taking awhile to get to a certain case, it& #39;s because of points 2 and 3. Formal investigations have not really started on any cases yet as we& #39;ve been hammering out the CoC, just preliminary steps to compile evidence & establish contact where appropriate. (5/8)
Thanks for reading. If you still suspect that someone on the panel has buried a case to protect their friends: this is something that we consider a serious violation of our code, and we ask you to please send us specifics so that the offending panelist(s) can be removed. (6/8)
