Sorry to burst anyone’s bubble, but even with the petition going round, the 50+1 rule can’t be successfully brought into English football anytime soon.

Here’s just two examples why, for which you can apply to a number of other clubs:

1) Manchester United - They are a PLC registered in the Cayman Islands and traded on the New York Stock Exchange. UK legislation doesn’t have any jurisdiction over their ownership and can only govern their operations within the UK.

2) Tottenham Hotspur - They are a private company ran from the Bahamas. UK legislation would not have jurisdiction over their ownership and can only take any action over their operations under standard UK trading and employment laws.

An article from 2015 by @david_conn in The Guardian cited that there were 28 English football clubs registered overseas, without checking, I would assume that the number now exceeds 30, given the turnover in ownership of clubs in the past 6 years.
