Yesterday, on @MarrShow, the interview with @AndrewMarr9 and @NicolaSturgeon threw up a number of disturbing facts and was a potent reminder that the SNP are weakening, rather than strengthening, the case for Scottish independence.

Here is why...

1/7
1. NS said: “The importance of being able to trade freely [and] internationally is really, really vital.”

As an independent nation, outside the governance of both Westminster and Brussels, we would be able to strike international trade deals with the EU and beyond.
2. NS describes losing access to single market as an "invidious position... that has happened to us against our democratic will."

This is the same politician who is unwilling to test Scotland's "democratic will" on EU readmission when we become an independent nation.
3. NS states: "Scotland voted against Brexit" and "Brexit has happened to us against our will."

By the same democratic metric, was the outcome of the 2014 referendum - to remain in the UK - also against our will? If not, leaving the EU was entirely democratically legitimate.
4. NS indicates: "People in Scotland have lost their freedom of movement across the European Union."

This was a blatant and bare-faced lie, as any overseas Scots living in Europe will confirm, and #Marr should not have allowed NS to get away with this slur.
5. NS tells #Marr she has not modelled the economic impact of independence upon people's incomes in Scotland.

Reassuring that the very issues of the currency and economy, which torpedoed independence in 2014, are still as distant from ScotGov minds as ever.
If ever there was evidence of the gross incompetence and negligence of the Scottish Government over the future of Scotland, ahead of a vote on the future of Scotland, it was this interview.
