It’s telling how @BBCr4today is leading Oscar coverage by mentioning Chloe Zhao is ‘second woman to win Best Director’ and Anthony Hopkins is ‘oldest best actor winner’...

... but not the fact that Daniel Kaluuya is the first Black British actor ever to win an Oscar.
(And also the first Black British actor ever to receive multiple nominations - he was previously nominated for ‘Get Out’.)
When people say ‘Why do you need Black History Month?’. This is a good example.

When we do historic things, it doesn’t get acknowledged.

We shouldn’t have to wait for October, or ‘looking back at the pioneers’ for achievements to be recognised. They should be news today.
