Honest confession: I am exactly the kind of cynical person who would be tweeting this in some parallel universe.
This is also the reason I just donated before but did not tweet about it. I thought tweeting about selfless work is just signalling.

Though we all know people get inspired and do good work themselves if we see others doing it.
I also did not follow the trend and do the 'donate X and get my time'. Oh it is so mimetic. Then my wife told me about @vindytalks spending hours on Twitter helping others.

I saw how the @TheProductfolks junta created invaluable resources and @adityamohanty_ even offered to help my family if anything happens. @gokulns nudged me to donate. I did. I am embarrassed how long it took me. Then I got my bonus, felt guilty, and donated more.
We can all intellectualise. I can give you an hour long gyaan on altruism, signalling and lessons from elephant in the brain. But that will do fuck all fo help people who are suffering outside.
And this is far beyond our ego. So just donate if you can.

All the debates, mockery if you want to do that, can happen later. No point in shitting on people, feeling good, but not doing anything to help.
But again, if you are the kind who can't donate/don't want to it is fine too. It is a personal decision. But let people help. Thanks.

P.S I rarely QT, or comment on tweets by others. I get pissed off when people do it to me. So apologies to the person I am doing it to. Had a long chat with @gokulns on this yesterday, so could not resist.
