Things that i, a hispanic, find offensive/annoying/disrespectful since some of y’all need to know! a thread; /srs
Never refer to us as ‘spanish’ it is literally the most annoying thing you could do. Spanish is a language. not a race.
Never say you don’t speak ‘taco’ or any other terms/foods that are considered mexican/hispanic/latino. it is the most annoying/disrespectful/upsetting thing ever.
we are not all ‘illegal’ or ‘undocumented’ or ‘border crossers’ or ‘unemployed’ never make jokes like this unless you are hispanic/mexican/latino. these jokes aren’t even as funny as you might think they are.
this one is common knowledge, don’t use the slurs if you don’t reclaim them. it makes me extremely uncomfortable when people use slurs they don’t reclaim.
stop telling us that we are ‘overreacting’ when it comes to something that offends/upsets us. it makes us/me feel like people are trying to silence us. trying to tell us that our opinions/problems are invalid.
btw these are just things that make me uncomfortable/upset, i don’t speak for all of the hispanic community!
