What I don’t get about the Monty Hall problem is why Monty’s goat revelation tells me more about the door I didn’t choose than it does about the one I did choose. #Maths #Statistics Did I effect the value of the door I chose by sheer dint of naming it?

What if I decided in my head upon door#3 but announced #2. Of, then, Monty reveals a goat behind #1, I seem to switch to #3. What sort of voodoo now governs my chance of winning the car???

Do I change my chances of winning by a mere mental note? Or does my deception drive greater knowledge of my real choice and actually impact my chances?

@SamuelSWatson I found you while picking around looking for someone who might enjoy addressing my Monty Hall questions (this thread) — any thoughts? I’ve read all the wiki wisdom and am still mystified.
