Honesty in struggle can be holy, because it invites other sufferers into your pain so that they can say, “I’m not alone. I thought I was alone. I’m not”,
and that is quite like Jesus Christ, who took on our pain and became the Man of Sorrows so that we might not perish in the outer darkness alone and cold.
Transparency can be holy, or it can be a power grab for platform and influence, after all the one who has suffered the most is always right, because who is going to disagree with the one who has suffered in the worst possible ways?
As always, pain is not a contest, nor is suffering a tool for building platform. Indeed, pain need not be anything other than what it is. You're not obligated to do anything with your suffering at all. But sharing our suffering can make others feel less alone. That's something.
