I've been trying to debate why I enjoy Black Clover so much recently and I think I realize why... The recent Magna power-up finally made me realize what it is. Tabata is the first mangaka that has given a power system that gives me Togashi vibes (which were my fav).
While I'm not trying to undermine other current mangaka, MHA has a great system that's based on the main villain, FF made so many unique powers solely based on fire, JJK has an awesome power system as well. But Togashi built TWO such amazing power systems that are so underrated
Yuyu Hakusho had such a cool concept of Spirit Energy, Life, Demon and then later Sacred Energy. Yusuke fighting a way to blend Demon and Spirit was dope. Then, you have all the mastery of nen, which had sooo many cool concepts within it. Togashi stepped it way up in complexity.
And what I personally love about Black Clover, is how Tabata is building smt similar imo. Not only are there countless ref. to various mythologies and religions, but Magna just gained a power neg to cause equilibrium between his opponent's power and his own.
Strength can be based on smt as simple as Yuno being loved by mana, Dante having a contract with the "highest ranking devil", Asta/Liebe having a power to neg any and all magic, Magna having a equilibrium neg, Julius being able to destroy time, devils altering reality...
It's just such a cool concept that strength is not always about raw power. Tabata is building smt truly special and this thread is why I currently love #BlackClover

This is not saying I don't like other series whatsoever though. Don't get it twisted. I'm just sharing thoughts
