My Oscar predictions this year: a thread - Part I
In this thread I will be talking about the films I think are going to take home the gold in every category, as well as which nominee is my personal favorite in that category
This is merely my personal opinion, which may differ from yours, and that is ok. Spread love, not hate <3

Best Picture:
Who Will Win: Nomadland
It& #39;s the frontrunner and heavy favorite.
This is a really strong batch of nominees. I would quite honestly be satisfied with any of them taking home this Oscar, but Nomadland is a deserving winner. A simple, poetic and gorgeous ode to life.

Who Should Win: The Father
There is not a single fault with that film. Drenched in heartbreaking poignancy, brilliantly crafted, perfectly acted and incredibly innovative in its point of view. It& #39;s an emotionally hard watch, but it& #39;s a powerful and profound experience.

Best Director:
Who Will Win: Chloe Zhao
Again, strong pack of nominees.
The style and potency Fennell brought to PYW. The symphonic grip of Vinterberg on AR& #39;s alcohol-riden spiral. The humanity and simplicity Chung brought to Minari.
Yet Zhao is the clear favorite here.

Unlike many, I am a huge fan of Fincher& #39;s perfect emulation of 1940s filmmaking, and I would love to see him get that overdue Oscar.
However, it& #39;s hard to deny Zhao& #39;s singular vision - a love letter to America& #39;s forgotten through sheer visual poetry.

Best Actor:
Who Will Win: Chadwick Boseman
Last year we saw the untimely death of Boseman, who delivered his strongest work to date in his final performance. There is a big urge to honour not only his finest hour, but also his legacy and body of work, and I don& #39;t disagree

Who Should Win: Anthony Hopkins
In all honestly, no other nominee this year brought the rawness and emotional honesty Hopkins gifted his performance with. It& #39;s a devastatingly real tour-de-force that lends empathy to a condition that is hard to relate to. Stunning work.

Best Actress:
Who Will Win: Carey Mulligan/Viola Davis
This might be the toughest category to predict this year.
Many people want to see Viola get a Best Actress Oscar after her win in Supporting, while others want to see Carey take home her first.
It could go both ways.

I wouldn& #39;t be opposed to Viola winning for her larger-than-life turn that commands the screen every second she is on.
However, Carey loses herself in her character like we have never seen her do, in a layered performance.
Give her her first Oscar!

Best Supporting Actor:
Who Will Win: Daniel Kaluuya
Kaluuya has won pretty much every major supporting actor award this season, and has been the frontrunner for some time now.
At this point, it& #39;s a done deal, and it would be an absolute shock if he lost.
